UK Consumer Law

Our products are covered by UK consumer law, offering certain rights and protections. You are entitled to goods that are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If you experience any issues with your jewellery, please contact us. We will work with you to resolve the problem fairly and promptly.

Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty

Luma Jewellery offers a free Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty from the date of purchase against any manufacturing defects on all Gold and Platinum jewellery. This warranty covers the structure of the jewellery itself, not damage caused by wear and tear or external factors. Most manufacturing defects will appear within the first few months of wear.

What is Covered by Our Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty:

  • Porosity, surface pores, blemishes in the metal: These are defects in the metal itself.
  • Uneven settings: This refers to the way gemstones are secured in their settings. Any unevenness should be apparent at the time of purchase or during servicing with us.
  • Chips, scratches or nicks in stones: This covers damage to the stones that occurs due to a manufacturing defect, not wear and tear.
  • Rhodium plating 'splashes' of stains on the metal: This refers to imperfections in the plating process.

Claiming your Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty:

  1. Contact us: Contact us via our contact form and a member of our team will be in touch.
  2. Return your jewellery: We will arrange the best way to return your product for an assessment. You can drop it off at one of our showrooms or return it by post. When returning by mail, please include original packaging and materials, including the packing slip and any relevant certificates.
  3. Postage deposit: A £40 postage deposit is required for UK returns and £150 for international returns.
  4. Assessment: We will conduct a free assessment to determine if the issue is covered by the warranty.
  5. Repair or refund: If the damage is covered by the warranty, the repair will be conducted at no charge and the postage deposit refunded. If the damage is not covered, you will receive a repair quote. If you choose not to proceed with the repair, the postage deposit will cover return shipping.
  6. Third-party repairs: Repairs or services performed by any jeweller other than Luma Jewellery will void your Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty.

Wear and Tear (not covered by Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty):

Our Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty does not cover damage to jewellery caused by wear and tear, accidents, mishandling, abusive use, theft, or external factors.

Examples of common jewellery issues not covered by the warranty:

  • Dents, abrasions and scratches on the settings: These are signs of normal wear. We recommend booking a yearly jewellery assessment to check your settings.
  • Chips, scratches, nicks, and breakages on the gemstones: These can be caused by accidents or everyday wear and tear.
  • Pits and holes in the setting: These can be caused by exposure to corrosive chemicals.
  • Discolouration of precious metals: This can be caused by chemicals, makeup, exposure to chlorine or other factors.
  • Wear and tear on precious metals: Claws and bands can wear down over time and may need to be restored.
  • Prongs that get caught, bent or worn down: This can allow a stone to fall out.
  • Loss of a gemstone: This can be caused by damage from everyday wear or other factors.

Jewellery Care:

To maintain the beauty and longevity of your jewellery, we recommend:

  • Taking your ring off for hands-on work.
  • Removing your ring before sporting activities, gym sessions, and heavy housework.
  • Take a look at our Jewellery Care Guide for more information.

Our Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty is only valid with proof of purchase and if the jewellery has not been altered in any way.

We encourage you to contact us if you have any questions about our warranty or UK consumer law. We are committed to providing excellent customer service and ensuring your complete satisfaction.
